LearningModule: IT Security (upgrade)
Description: Today, Information Technology is used all over the world and in all parts of society. Therefore the necessity of security awareness has increased. IT Security is a complex issue which has to be taken into account when performing all kinds of network or server installations. This learning module gives an overview about potential threats and general measures against these. In addition to a general overview, it introduces IT security best practices and contains a hands-on lesson on running a secure mail server.
Objectives: You will be introduced to the meaning of information security and learn about possible risks within computer technology and general measures against those risks. You will learn a set of general best practices for IT security and acquire skills necessary for setting up a secure mail server.
Prerequisites: You should have basic knowledge of IT-related terms and computer hardware. For the best practices lesson, you will also need some Linux experience and access to a Linux PC. For the hands-on lesson, you should have some fundamental knowledge of networking on TCP/IP and have completed the learning module "Open Source Information Technology".
